The MA in Team-Based Communication
This MA program will run from March 23, 2026 – Feb 10, 2028. From start to finish you share the learning journey with the same cohort of students and staff. This hybrid program combines on-line learning with four in-person intensives. Participants engage an online platform at least weekly during the whole program, responding to assigned readings and discussing course content as they integrate new insights with past experience. Candidates should expect to give 15 hours a week for the duration of this course. Master’s level research and writing builds through the coursework and culminates in a final capstone or thesis project related to an area of passion in the student’s life. The degree is designed to be done alongside your work in missions, leadership and community. The MA program fee includes registration, tuition, and the food and housing for the on-site intensives. Airfare, airport transportation, and textbooks are not included.
Applicants for the MA program must be full-time YWAM staff with a minimum of five years in YWAM, including time spent as a student. A Bible Core Course or equivalent is required, or can be arranged online. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required (exceptions to this requirement are encouraged to apply and will be considered). The Team-based Communication Directed Studies Seminar is also a requirement for the MATBC applicant.
The Directed Studies Seminar, will be available Jan to March 2026, includes both an introduction to the content of the MA program, as well as an introduction to the learning process (our online platform, and academic writing and research). The seminar is done individually at your own pace. It will include watching short videos, reading, writing a couple brief reflections of 300-500 words, and writing a longer paper of 8-10 pages double-spaced. The seminar is expected to take a full-time YWAMer 4-5 hours a week for 3-4 weeks to complete. You may need more or less time.
